2025 marks the anniversary of the birth of Jane Austen, in this very special event we're bringing together two brilliant authors who live, love and breathe Jane Austen.
Paula Byrne, the author of many great biographies including The World of Jane Austen and Hardy's Women. Paula 's new novel Six Weeks by the Sea is set against the backdrop of Jane Austen’s family, the tensions of the war against France, and naval and colonial politics, it's a fascinating story of how the most famous romance writer of all time fell in love for the first time whilst on a family holiday to Sidmouth in 1801.
Rachel Parris, comedian, actress, musician and founding member of touring comedy improv group Austentatious and presenter of Austenstibly Feminist, knows and understands Jane Austen’s iconic characters almost as well as Jane herself. Her new book Introducing Mrs Collins is a tale of love, loss and second chances and is for anyone who wondered if there was more to the sensible character of Charlotte Lucas we meet in Pride and Prejudice.
