Hugo Vickers & Miranda Seymour - Behind Closed Doors & I, Vera

Hugo Vickers is a writer, lecturer and broadcaster, and an acknowledged expert on the Royal Family. He has written biographies of the Queen Mother, Alice, Princess Andrew of Greece; Gladys, Duchess of Marlborough (The Sphinx), Cecil Beaton, Vivien Leigh and others. In Behind Closed Doors he shines the spotlight on the tragic true story of Wallis Simpson, the inspiration for the forthcoming film My Duchess starring Joan Collins and Isabella Rossellini.

Hugo will be joined by Miranda Seymour, celebrated as a biographer, novelist, memoir writer and critic, she is the author of the award-winning memoir, In My Father’s House. Her many acclaimed biographies include: A Ring of Conspirators, Mary Shelley; In Byron’s Wake and I Used to Live Here Once: The Haunted Life of Jean Rhys.

In her latest book I, Vera, Miranda brings the many lives of the radical princess Vera Gedroit to life. Vera Gedroits was a towering, sweet-faced lesbian Princess, a superb writer and ardent supporter of workers’ rights who regularly performed true medical miracles of surgery, while on one occasion forcibly ejecting an inquisitive Rasputin from a hospital ward.
